The Hib Initiative provides technical assistance and support to 72 low income countries. Activities focus on 3 strategic areas to support evidence-based decisions at the country level: communication, research and coordination. Activities focus on communicating the benefits of Hib vaccine and advocating for accelerated introduction of a life-saving vaccine; strengthening surveillance systems to demonstrate Hib disease burden and vaccine impact; and the coordination of these activities with partner organizations (WHO, UNICEF, GAVI Alliance) and country governments for a sustainable outcome of new vaccine introduction in national immunization programmes.
