Ryan Novak is an Epidemiologist with the Meningitis and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his PhD in Microbial Diversity at the University of Connecticut, followed by postdoctoral training at CDC in Emerging Infectious Diseases with the Meningitis Laboratory, and the Epidemic Intelligence Service in the Division of Viral Hepatitis. He has experience with surveillance systems, meningococcal disease outbreaks, and epidemic response. His current work focuses on the prevention and control of bacterial meningitis in international settings, including work with The Meningitis Vaccine Project to strengthen disease surveillance and laboratory capacity in Burkina Faso prior to conjugate meningitis vaccine introduction.
